ISU has No.1 recruiting class in the nation

Iowa State wrestling fans should be gearing up for the upcoming season with great anticipation. This year’s freshman wrestling class was rated the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation, according to a press release.

Recruiting was a team effort. All the wrestling coaches, along with the university, helped to bring in this class.

“The recruiting process starts much earlier than people think,” assistant coach Thom Ortiz said. “Most of the men the coaching staff have known for five to six years through Iowa State wrestling camps and other wrestling tournaments.”

The recruits not only have great athletic ability, but they also work hard in the classroom and on their reputation.

“They have a strong work ethic and the ‘eye of the tiger.’ They want to be national champs,” Ortiz said.

It seems ISU wrestling has nothing but a bright future ahead of it. ISU wrestling fans should be ready for a season of excitement and success.
