A different recruitment

Not only will Iowa State students receive a diploma after graduating, but their children will also reap the benefits of having ISU alumni parents.

From the time of birth, alumni children are tracked by the university as possible students.

The ISU Alumni Association and Office of Enrollment hope the ISU Legacy Migration program can get alumni’s children to follow in their parents’ footsteps.

After receiving a birth announcement from an alumni, ISU Legacy Migration program coordinators send the new parent a baby book entitled, “My Friends Call Me Cy.”

At age five, the child receives a Cyclone bank and a letter about saving for college, and then at age 10, a Cyclone watch.

When the child reaches the age of 15, they are invited to ISU for Legacy Migration program events.

The program seems to have proven successful. It’s a great way for ISU to keep in touch with alumni and their families and to increase student enrollment.

To make sure alumni children consider ISU during their college search, the university has to make it a memorable and worthwhile experience for their parents.

On Friday, Nov. 7, a new batch of alumni children will come to ISU for the program. Alumni children get the chance to tour the campus and register for a class in their college of interest.

The ISU Legacy Migration program might make choosing a college easier for alumni children. It also enhances the Cyclone image.
