Iowa State football players Matt Rahfaldt and Matt Rysavy are scheduled to appear in Story County court today at 8:30 a.m.

They will answer to charges of simple assault for an alleged incident that took place near Tazzles nightclub on Aug. 1.

Rahfaldt and Rysavy were arrested on the charges Aug. 25, and later released.

Witnesses said that the alleged victim of the attack was forced to the floor by Rahfaldt, Rysavy and three other unidentified persons at approximately 1 a.m. Aug. 1.

According to court documents, the group kicked the alleged victim in the face, chest, head, shoulder and stomach.

Witnesses report in court documents that the alleged victim had been kicked out of the bar prior to the incident. According to the documents, the victim was “verbally upset,” screaming obscenities to those around him.

Iowa State football coach Dan McCarney stated last week that the two football players would not be suspended from the team because of the incident.

Both players suited up for Saturday’s game.
