Get a real job

Editorial Board

Most of us are at Iowa State for one reason: so we can be marketable enough to get a good job someday.

Besides, all of us will need jobs to pay off our college loans.

And for some of us, the job search in the real world is either quickly approaching or already here.

Today, ISU plays host to an event that just might help you in that search.

If you are nowhere near graduation, perhaps the event can give you a few ideas of exactly what field you would like to work in.

It’s Career Days 1997.

If you are looking for a job or an internship to get yourself oriented and experienced in your major, Career Day at the Great Hall of the Memorial Union is the place to be.

More than 200 companies looking for students in the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are at ISU from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Career Day is an excellent opportunity to work on interviewing skills, to ask people who are hiring what they expect in a resume, to meet and make contacts in your field and to actually look for a job in the “real world.”

As the motto says, Career Day is a great chance to “find your direction,” no matter what kind of student you are.
