Voice your opinion
September 25, 1997
We all have our own opinions. It’s human nature.
We like and dislike certain things just because.
And with all the controversy over Veishea brewing, it’s safe to say that we all have an opinion about what should happen with the celebration.
You may be sick of talk about Veishea.
You might not care because you feel as if you are unaffected by any decision made. Or you live off campus and you are 21, so you could care less.
You might be infuriated because you don’t think alcohol should be banned. You might think the university shouldn’t dictate whether or not you should drink. You think you are a responsible adult.
You might support the Veishea pledge because you think the celebration has veered off the track of its original intention. You might think Veishea’s focus should shift from alcohol to a community and university showcase event.
Whatever you might think, feel or believe about the Veishea celebration, make sure you let it be known.
How are our campus leaders supposed to make a well-informed and well-represented decision whether to commit their collective groups to the Veishea pledge?
They certainly can’t read your minds.
Today, from noon until 2 p.m., you have a chance to let your opinion out.
The open forum discussing the future of Veishea is in the Gallery of the Memorial Union.
It is our constitutional right to speak our minds.
So speak up!
The Veishea forum is your opportunity to have a constructive say about the future of one of the largest student-run organizations in the nation.
Don’t let your voice be silenced.
