Elton John concert finally confirmed
September 23, 1997
The man who awed the world last month with his “Candle in the Wind” tribute to Princess Diana is coming to Ames.
Elton John, the singer who brought such classics as “Rocket Man,” “Benny and the Jets,” “I’m Still Standing” and “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues” has announced a world tour that, for the second time in a row, will include a stop in Ames.
Tickets for the Elton John concert will go on sale Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m.
TicketMaster and the Iowa State Center Ticket Office will use the random-number distribution system for the show.
Random numbers will be distributed to customers one hour before tickets go on sale.
The number of random numbers will coincide with the number of customers in line.
One half-hour before sale time, a random number will be drawn by a customer in line.
The customer holding number of the ticket drawn will be the first in line followed, in order, by the rest.
Late arrivals, regardless of number, must go to the end of the line.
Obtaining a number does not guarantee a ticket, only a place in line. Customers who do not want to participate in this distribution system can charge by phone through TicketMaster, 233-1888 in Ames.
Tickets are $39.50 with a limit of six per person.
