Irresponsible ads
September 8, 1997
With the recent Veishea and alcohol-fatality stories in the Daily, I was sad to see an ad in the Daily which advertised penny pitchers of beer.
A few suggestions: Perhaps the Daily should reassess running ads where business owners are irresponsibly promoting the misuse of their products.
Perhaps business people should be brought into discussions of a dry Veishea and/or alcohol abuse in general.
And perhaps seminars on business ethics could be held by the business college.
This kind of marketing without regard for consequences to the entire community needs a public discussion as well as attention from those educating our future business people.
