Do you want a wet or dry Veishea?
September 4, 1997
An open letter to all Iowa Staters:
As most of you may already be aware, President Jischke is requiring that Iowa State’s Veishea be conducted “DRY” this year due to events that took place during the last years of Veishea. During his presentation to GSB on Aug. 27th, Jischke said he would make the final decision concerning Veishea’s fate in middle October.
In the meantime, President Jischke has asked that the members of GSB take the issue to the students they represent, inform them on his decision and then make our decision on the fate of Veishea. Jischke is requiring the student government leaders in GSB, IRHA, IFC and Panhellenic Council to pledge that Veishea will be “DRY” during their Veishea activities this year and for years to follow.
To help make this decision and to ultimately draft our pledge to Jischke, we need student input. This is where you as an Iowa Stater play an essential role. On the night of Monday the 8th, the LAS Council, along with your GSB representatives, invite you to join us in an open forum to be held in Room 203 in Bessey Hall at 7:30 p.m. Bring your thoughts, ideas and concerns, and share them with everyone. Are you willing to help keep this year a “DRY” Veishea? What happens if it is not a “DRY” Veishea this year? Other questions will be addressed as well. We hope to see you and your friends on Monday night. If you are unable to attend Monday and have any questions or concerns about Veishea, feel free to contact any of us. We will be happy to hear from you!
