Ordinary people

To the Editor:
It’s easy to see why an intolerant, extremist few have tried to turn thecomic strip “For Better or Worse” and its innocuous, four-day, gay-themed storyline into yet another divisive national religious battle.
First, these extremist organizations only thrive when people are angry and hostile — it’s tough to raise money without a “dangerous” enemy.
Second, this strip offers up what they fear most — the truth that gay Americans are just ordinary, decent people, our sons and daughters, family, friends, neighbors andco-workers.
