Art Lending Open House this afternoon

If you are looking for something to finish off your blank walls, the perfect place to be today is the Annual Art Lending Open House.

There are approximately 200 pieces to choose from ranging in price and size and may be rented by the semester or the year.

If renting an original, matted and framed masterpiece, print or poster is what you are looking for, then a $12-15 semester rental fee is an excellent investment. However, if you find a piece so thought provoking you must own it, there is the option of buying.

Although it is unusual, pieces have been bought in the past, Leslie Melvin, the arts program advisor, said.

The pieces range in size from 17 x 20″ to 6 x 4,” but most are average poster size.

While some pieces have been specially purchased for the lending collection, most have been on display in on of the ISU galleries.

Perhaps sometime in the future students will be able to add their pieces to the rentable collection, Melvin said.

The collection will be on display from noon until 4 p.m. in the Pioneer Room, Memorial Union. But go early.

Last year several business owners waited outside the window staking out the pieces they had in mind so they could make a dash for it when doors opened.

If anyone is interested but unable attend, it is possible to rent at any time.
