Daily Staff Writer

June 18

* Matt P. Koenen, 111D University Village, reported that he had left his wallet, and contents, laying next to the basketball court while he played basketball. When he returned for it, it was gone. Estimated loss is $15.

* Allison Lampkin, 1085 Elm Hall, reported that when she went to her office she found that her desk drawer had been pried open. Fellow employees said that it also had happened about three weeks ago. She said that nothing was missing from the desk or her office. Estimated damage is $50.

* An ISU Parking Systems officer found a vehicle parked in Lot 43 with a stolen parking permit. The vehicle was impounded. DPS officer talked with the owner of the vehicle, Jeff A. Eichorn, 1526 Barnett Ave. Eichom said that the permit was given to him by a friend about three weeks ago. Estimated value of the permit is $200.

* Karen Perry, 168D University Village, reported that someone had taken her flowers, from the flower box, and threw them into the street. She said that her husband had left his golf equipment next to their mailbox while he ran back into the unit for a minute, and when he returned, his golf balls and tees were missing. Estimated loss, for the plants, is $40.

* DPS received information concerning a powdery substance found in Lot 62. Officer scraped a sample of the powder and brought it to the DPS office to test it with the NIK KIT. The powder tested negative for drug residue.

* Brent T. Estrem, 113E University Village, reported that he had locked his bicycle to the bike rack on the West side of the Memorial Union. When he returned, the bike was gone. Estimated loss is $100.

June 19

* ISU DPS stopped a vehicle at Lincoln Way and Welch Ave. for expired license plates. While doing a routine driver’s license check on the driver, Shane Randall Goodman, 2112 Lincoln Way, it was found that he was driving under suspension and also had an active warrant from the Iowa State Patrol. Goodman was placed under arrest, brought to our office for processing, and then taken to the Ames P. D. to post bond.

June 20

* Disorderly Conduct, Hawthorn Court. Terrance Manning, 3803 Columbia St., Des Moines, stated that he had left a bag of personal items at a friend’s residence and when he picked his property up, his pager wasn’t in the bag.

* Officer stopped a vehicle on Mortensen Road for speeding. When officer aproached the driver, Bradley Allan Smith, 214 W. Glendale Road, Oskaloosa, she could smell an odor of alcohol about his person. Officer administered field sobriety tests and had him blow on the Preliminary Breath Test. Smith was placed under arrest for .02 violation, transported to our office for processing, and then released on citation.

June 21

* Officer stopped a vehicle on Morthensen Road for running a stop sign. When the officer approached the driver, a 17-year-old male, he could smell an odor of alcohol about his person. Officer administered field sobriety tests and a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test) which showed him to be over .02 but under .10. He was cited for a .02 violation.

* Dan M. Dettmann, 3108 West St., reported that while he sat in his vehicle in Lot 10, the driver of the vehicle parked next to him, James A. Hoekstra, 503 Welch Ave., opened his car door and struck Dettmann’s vehicle, causing a small dent, and then left the area before Dettmann could stop him. Officer talked with Hoekstra, and Hoekstra said that he did strike the vehicle when he opened his door, but that he did not hit it hard enough to do any damage.

June 22

* Officer stopped a vehicle at Mortensen Road and Welch Ave. for speeding. When running a routine driver’s license check on the the driver, Everlena Wood, 238 Village Dr., it was found that she was driving under suspension. Officer arrested Wood for driving under suspension. Wood was cited for speed and driving under suspension, and released.

June 23

* Marc Russell, 168E University Village, reported that his cell phone had been stolen, and that some phone calls had been made on the phone.

June 24

* Parking Systems reported an abandoned bicycle on the Northwest corner of Carver Hall. Officer cut the U-lock, and impounded the bicycle. Estimated value of the bike is $20.

* Elizabeth L. Rothfus, 139A University Village, reported that they have been receiving hang up type phone calls.
