Accused killers could be tried together in Story County

NEVADA — Prosecutors for Story County have asked that Michael Runyan and Luke Abrams, the accused murderers of Uri Sellers, be tried together.

The prosecutors have filed a motion to consolidate the two cases in Story County District Court.

Lawyers for Runyan and Abrams argued against the motion in court Wednesday, saying the cases were too complicated for a jury to handle at at one trial. Prosecutors argued that defense lawyers have not given a good reason to try the case together.

Judge Timothy Finn has not ruled on the issue.

Runyan, 20, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of Sellers, 20, of Monroe, during the early morning hours of April 20. Runyan waived his right to a speedy trial Wednesday.

Abrams,18, is charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder.
