Laughing at STDs

Jennifer Coshland

Unfortunately, Mr. Johnson, I believe you have lost sight of the real message. The responses to your article, although their religious angle distracted you, are a reminder to be careful. (And if it makes you feel any better, I am atheist).

Yes, sex is beautiful. It is a wonderful part of existence. But people sometimes lie to get what they want, and may conceal an STD they may or may not know about. Despite your faith in condoms, they cannot protect from all diseases. Did you know you could contract herpes or genital warts by just touching the infected area? Make sure you wear gloves with someone you are not so sure of.

I am certain the student body did not find your article humorous, simply because it wasn’t. As long as I have friends that suffer the pain and embarrassment of having contracted STDs while practicing safer sex (yes, a condom failure!), you will not hear my laughter on this issue.

By the way, does all this attention make you happy? I suppose you got what you wanted.
