Record show offers fans rare merchandise
April 17, 1997
Imagine a place where you can find every piece of musical merchandise that you ever dreamed of owning. Imagine a place where you could buy CDs for as little as $2 a piece. Imagine being able to look through some of the rarest musical items in the country.
Well, imagine no more. The Compact Disc and Record Collectors’ Show is here to satisfy your wildest dreams.
Put on by Acela Brothers Productions, who run Ace-High Records, this show is dubbed as everything that you could possibly ever want.
“This is the third show that we’ve put on,” Bob Acela, one of the show’s creators, said. “My brother and I are putting the show on. We run a mail order business that is constantly advertised in places like the Goldmine publication and other places. I’ve been to conventions all over the midwest and decided to do one myself.”
What types of things can consumers hope to find at the show? “Every dealer brings his own stuff,” Acela said. “You can find everything from the real common stuff to real expensive out-of-print things and rare stuff.
Acela said it depends on the type of things that the dealer brings. “You can come with $20 and walk out with a bag full of stuff, though. It just depends on how much money you want to spend,” he said.
Sunday’s show will feature forty-five dealer tables from all over the country. “I know that there will be rare videos of live concerts, autographed memorabilia, posters, rare CDs, imports and albums,” Acela said. “There will be something for everybody.”
Acela said shows like this are great for fans who are into more than just commercial recordings.
“If you are a music fan, this is the place where you can buy stuff you can’t get at retail stores,” Acela said. “This show has been designed for true music fans and collectors.”
The collectors’ show will be at the University Park Holiday Inn (1800 50th & University Ave in West Des Moines) this Sunday.
The show lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is $2. For more information, please contact Bob or Jim Acela at (515)-221-9055.
