Campaign to be the best

Tahira and Labh Hira

We, along with professors emeriti George and Agatha Burnet, have asked more than 115 current and retired faculty and staff members to join us in promoting Campaign Destiny at Iowa State University. (For those of you unfamiliar with Campaign Destiny, it is a $300 million campaign designed to make Iowa State University the best land-grant institution in the country.)

These volunteers are presenting the campaign message and asking all members of the university community to join them in supporting the goals of the campaign.

We have even set internal goals for ourselves: 100% participation and $10 million in commitments.

We are doing this because we believe in Iowa State and feel that you, the students, deserve the best educational opportunities available.

You will benefit from our efforts in part through increased numbers of scholarships, fellowships and computer labs; updated facilities and leading-edge professors.

Since this campaign began in July, 1995, several goals have been reached thanks to the support of ISU alumni, parents, faculty, staff, foundations and corporations.

For example, funds have been raised for the new Palmer Human Development and Family Studies Building, a state-of-the-art Engineering Teaching and Research Complex; scholarships for top scholars, minorities and students who have academic ability but may lack financial resources; and a business entrepreneurship program.

Campaign Destiny is important to the future of Iowa State University and its students.

We wanted to let you know that the faculty and staff not only give of their time and talent to provide you with the best educational opportunities, they also give of their financial resources so that you can proudly say that you graduated from the best land-grant institution in the country.
