Travelers to Ankeny and Drake Relays tryouts should allow extra time for travel today as both southbound ramps at the First Street (Exit 92) Interchange in Ankeny will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until late afternoon.

Additionally, there will be a southbound lane closure on I-35 between Ankeny and Des Moines after 8:30 a.m.

The Department of Transportation advises travelers to “give construction workers a break” and pay close attention to traffic and construction signs while traveling on I-35. Use alternate routes if possible, the DOT suggests.

From the north, motorists can use the Elkhart (Exit 96) Interchange and go 1 mile west to Highway 69 and then south on this highway to Ankeny High School.

From the south, motorists can exit at the Ankeny Industrial (Exit 90) Interchange and go 1 mile west to Highway 69 and then north on this highway to get to Ankeny High School.

The ramps will be closed for paving.
