Love is never bad

I know much of America is tired of all the media attention given to Ellen’s sexuality, but for gay and lesbian Americans it doesn’t even come close to equal time for all the heterosexual images we gay people get bombarded with. It’s barely a drop in the bucket. To borrow the words of anti-gay activists, I’d have to say that everywhere I look, heterosexuals are “flaunting” their lifestyle. They have public weddings. They announce them in the newspaper (along with affectionate-appearing photographs). They wear wedding rings. We often see heterosexuals holding hands, hugging or even kissing in public. Last weekend I saw some cuddling together at the movie theater. We gay people see heterosexuality flaunted all over television, movies, magazines, advertising … everywhere.

Okay, I’m being somewhat sarcastic. But honestly, folks, let’s stop the double standard. To be honest about one’s self isn’t “flaunting,” and love is never bad.
