Chamber Artists to let blessings flow this Saturday

Making a joyful noise is not an abnormality for one group of Ames artists. In fact, it’s a pretty regular part of every performance.

Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., the Ames Chamber Artists will present their spring concert “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow,” at the First Evangelical Free Church of Ames.

A group composed of singers from many different types of educational and vocational backgrounds, the artists are bound together by their common love of fine choral singing.

Founded in 1988, the group has since gained a reputation for exciting programs and refined performances rarely found in community ensembles.

Some special highlights that will be performed at the concert will be “Chichester Psalms,” by Leonard Bernstein, and “Fantasy on a Psalm Tune by Claude Goudimel(1514-1572),” a work David Moe originally wrote under commission.

Two other ensembles will perform with the Ames Chamber Artists for Saturday’s concert including the Ames Children’s Choir and the Ames Collegiate Brass.

The Ames Children’s Choir will join the Chamber Artists for “I believe in Springtime” by John Rutter.

For the tune, “Come Let Us Sing” by Allen Pote, the Chamber Artists will be accompanied by the Ames Collegiate Brass.

A suite of well-known folk hymns arranged by Larry L. Fleming will conclude the program.

Tickets are available at Main Street Music, John Huber Clothiers, and Members of the Ames Chamber Artists. Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $5 for students and $3 for children under 12. Tickets also will be sold at the door.
