Those who have heard about the talented 1997-98 Iowa State basketball recruiting class will get the chance to see the future Cyclones in action on Sunday, April 6 at 1:30 p.m.

The Big 22 Classic is an exhibition basketball game that features the ISU recruiting class competing against top recruits that have signed to play for Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

Iowa State recruits make up the North team, while the other recruits make up the South team.

The Cyclone recruiting class has been ranked as high as second in the country.

Future Cyclone Marcus Fizer may be the most versatile player in the class.

Fizer was recently named to the Parade All-American team to go along with his MacDonald’s All-American honors.

Fizer, a 6-foot 8-inch forward from Arcadia, La. was recently on television competing in the high school slam dunk and three-point competitions.

Future two-sport athlete Andy Stensrud will be in action for the Cyclones.

Stensrud, a native Iowan who hails from Lake Mills, originally signed committed with ISU Head Basketball Coach Tim Floyd, but later decided to also play tight end for ISU.

Other future Cyclones in action will be 6-foot guard Lee Love, 6-foot 2-inch guard C.J. Bruton, 6-foot 3-inch guard Jerry Curry, 6-foot 6-inch guard Gerrod Henderson, 6-foot 9-inch forward Chris Ridens, 6-foot 9-inch Center Walter Moore and 6-foot 9-inch center Martin Rancik.

The Big 22 Classic will also be a chance for basketball fans to see future Texas 6-foot 11-inch center Chris Mihn. Mihn had landed all-state honors in Texas and should be competing for the starting position for the Longhorns next season.

The South team also will be showcasing the talents future Indiana forward Levron Williams and undecided guard Bernard Smith.

Smith, a native Texan, is considered one of the nation’s best guards.

Williams, an All-American high school running back and All-State basketball player, will play both sports for the Hoosiers.
