I need some clarification on the cloning question. I keep hearing that those who do this sort of research (and this comes up nearly every time there’s some new advance in science) are “playing God” and that we aren’t supposed to “play God.”

I must be confused because it appears to me that it comes pretty close to playing God (or at least to being his press secretary) to say, “God gave you the brain that allowed you to make this breakthrough, but personally I am telling you that God was only kidding. He doesn’t want you to use that brain without checking with me first.”

I’m sure someone out there can explain this to me.
