Proving so much

Never let it be said that hard work goes unnoticed. Especially not in the greek system.
We all know that people in the greek system are stereotypically fun-loving with a great lack of seriousness. So on that note — congratulations to Daniel Faidley and Andrea Hefty on being named Greek Man and Woman of the Year at Vespers, the annual greek awards ceremony on Monday night. Congratulations on exemplifying what the greek system is really about.
With the acceptance of these awards you have shown your fellow Iowa State students that there is more to being greek than just yelling like hell. You have shown that perhaps those letters you wear on your parkas mean something more than just having crazy “let’s get drunk till we can’t walk, talk or stand up straight” parties.
With the acceptance of these awards you have reminded your fellow fraternity and sorority members why your respective organizations were founded. You remind them that scholarship, service, community, camaraderie and education are why they joined in the first place.
Thanks for showing that hard work is not just a cleaver catch phrase. Thanks for proving that scholarship is not a dying trend. Thank you for proving that community service is not just limited to those in trouble with the law.
The honors bestowed upon you are obviously great ones and they definitely transcend the realms of the greek system. And, from the looks of it, you really deserve them.
