The 1996-1997 Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams are to be congratulated — oh, so close to the Elite Eight, and, a first NCAA trip.

However, it seems ISU just cannot get over the hump: Troy Davis a few votes shy of the Heisman; the ISU wrestlers one takedown from beating Iowa; and, the BBall team one free throw, blocked shot or lucky bounce from advancing to the Round of 8.

Hopefully, this close calls will inspire the teams to reach a little harder for the brass ring.
