Department of Public Safety officials said Tuesday that a $5,500 computer was stolen from an office in Kildee Hall.

At about 8 a.m., Carl Watson, an extension program specialist, reported to DPS that sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday morning one of the three computers in Room 32 of Kildee was stolen.

Watson, who works in the Pork Industries Laboratory in the building, reportedly checked with occupants in other offices in the area and no one reported seeing anything, said Rob Bowers, patrol coordinator for DPS.

According to reports, a Gateway 2000 laptop computer was stolen.

The computer is owned by the Department of Animal Science.

At press time there were no suspects, although Bowers said a person was reported in the area and an investigation is underway.

“We don’t want to jeopardize the current investigation so we aren’t able to comment on anything right now,” Bowers said.
