Construction will begin today on Interstate 35 between the northeast mixmaster and the First Street interchange in Ankeny, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Work will begin with patching, which will go on for about three weeks. The area will then be overlaid with a new asphalt surface. Construction is expected to be completed by July 4. During the construction phase, traffic will be limited to one lane at various times. Two-lane traffic will be maintained during peak traffic periods, but travelers can expect slowdowns through the area at all times.
This project will include work at night. Motorists are strongly advised by the Iowa Department of Transportation to choose an alternate route of travel or to allow ample time to reach their destinations.
