Public demonstration major
February 6, 1997
I graduated from Iowa State just over a year ago, Dec. 1995, and since then it seems like the students, faculty and administration, have got their priorities mixed up.
All of the debates on renaming Catt Hall, Jack Trice Field, and this OJA affair have made the school lose sight of the original purpose of Iowa State University. That is to study and learn something, to further education and knowledge. I don’t think that the people who made the Morrill Land Grant wanted political and social problems to take precedent over learning. While it is true that just attending a institution like ISU teaches one in many ways, there is not a major called Public Demonstration.
Maybe if students, faculty, and administration would get back to basics other problems would fade away or be solved through learning.
