Johnson honored in China

Iowa State’s vice provost for extension has been named an honorary professor at the Center of Rural Development Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Stanley Johnson was honored by the Chinese center for his assistance to international universities that are helping to restructure their nation’s agricultural economics.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences is the largest scientific institution in China.

Johnson is the former director of ISU’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development. He is also the executive director of the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute and chair of the board of the Midwest Agribusiness Trade Research and Information Center at ISU.

Johnson is an honorary professor of the Ukrainian State Agricultural University, and he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Debrecen Agricultural University in Hungary.

He is also a member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences in both Russia and Ukraine.
