Hot hoops thrill fans

The Iowa State men’s basketball team is off to its best start in history. After winning their first 10 games, the Cyclones were ranked fourth in the nation, their best ranking since Gary Thompson and company beat Wilt Chamberlain and Kansas.
Those who remember the Old Milwaukee advertisements that used to grace the televised games might finally declare: “It doesn’t get any better than this!”
Now that we are 11-2 and Hilton Magic is in full force, the Daily wishes to congratulate Coach Tim Floyd and his crew for making our basketball dreams come true.
Way to go, guys.
The only thing this team needs now is nicknames. Talk radio listeners have asked for nicknames so we thought we’d take the liberty of thinking of some:
“Babyface” Dedric Willoughby.
Kenny “White boys can’t jump” Pratt.
“Inspector 12” Kelvin Cato (more rejections than the underwear inspector).
Jacy “White boys can dribble” Holloway.
Shawn “The Fence” Bankhead.
Brad “Almost the Mayor” Johnson.
Stevie “The Wonder” Johnson.
“Bony” Tony Rampton.
“Hustlin'”Klay Edwards.
DeAndre “Double tooth picks” Harris (#11).
Ha-Keem “I have a dream” Abdel Khaliq.
Paul “My name is not Susan” Shirley.
Matt Knoll, Russ Schoenauer and Jason Teeter together are the “Other Brothers.” We look forward to seeing them play someday.
Remember, these nicknames are only suggestions. Our feelings would not be hurt if they weren’t used.
Nonetheless, we look forward to a productive season in the spotlight of the top 10.
