Steve Carter, director of the ISU Business Development Center was named the interim director of the ISUPappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship last month.

In his new position, he will oversee the start-up and organization of the new center which will help entrepreneurs, technologists, and ISU faculty and students develop ideas and technologies into new business or expand existing companies.

The center will also provide educational courses, programs and outreach services to develop the entrepreneurial interest of Iowa State students, faculty and other Iowans.

The Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship was funded by a $1 million gift from Des Moines businessman and entrepreneur, John Pappajohn and his wife, Mary. They also donated an additional $50,000 to support the most promising start-up companies created through the center.

In a press release, Carter said, “The Pappajohns have made a generous investment in Iowa State University.

“We are committed to making that investment pay off for the state of Iowa,” he said. “This center will bring together the entrepreneur and university communities in a way that offers greater opportunities to both constituencies.”
