APD: Man held ex-wife as prisoner

An Ames man is in custody after allegedly threatening his ex-wife with a large knife Monday.
Ames police responded to a 911 call at about 2 p.m. from a home at 1509 Grand Ave. After arriving at the scene, officers located a female identified as Yu-Chih Liang, who lives at the residence. Liang told officers that her former husband, identified as Kuang-Man Chang, 47, also of 1509 Grand Ave., used force to prevent her from leaving the residence earlier in the day .
According to police reports, Chang threatened his estranged wife with a large knife and physically assaulted her. Liang was able to escape through a window and seek assistance from a neighbor.
Liang told officers that she was held captive for nearly two hours.
During a follow-up investigation, Ames police arrested Chang.
He was charged with domestic abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor; false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor; and assault with the intent to commit sexual abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Chang is being held at the Ames Police Department. Bail was set at $6,000.
