It’s still gotta be a Pepsi.
Members of Veishea’s executive committee decided last night on Pepsi as the beverage of choice for 40th consecutive year. Coke officials made a bid for the spring celebration’s beverage rights this year, as they have in past years.
“We were happy with Pepsi’s proposal, and we’d like to continue with the 40 years Pepsi has had with Veishea,” said Alan Beck, co-chairman of Veishea’s marketing committee.
Veishea’s executive committee is composed of students, but has two non-voting advisers. The annual Veishea celebration will be held April 18-20.
Beck said the process of selling pop at the Taste of Veishea on Welch Avenue will be different than previous years.
In the past, Veishea officials set up separate tents for Veishea-goers to purchase pop. Vendors were not allowed to sell carbonated beverages. Pepsi officials will sell pop directly to vendors this year.
In addition, student groups on campus who sell soda will deal directly with Pepsi. Pepsi has agreed to supply ice coolers, chillers and a variety of soda flavors such as Diet Pepsi and Mountain Dew.
