The annual convention of Professional Educators of Iowa (PEI) will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The convention will be held in the Olmsted Center at Drake University in Des Moines. Gov. Terry Branstad will begin the event with opening remarks in the Bulldog Theater at 10 a.m.

During the day, PEI will also honor past presidents and charter board members.

There will also be breakout sessions with the presenters.

The presenters at this year’s convention include, David Denholm, representing the National Public Service Research Foundation; Mark Mix, from the National Right to Work; Dick Watt, representing First Western Insurance; and Bruce Moe and Bob Iglehart from the Missouri State Teachers Association.

The PEI is an independent state teachers association that was developed out of a need to give teachers in the state of Iowa a choice. PEI believes in local control of schools and it wants to protect the teachers’ rights and their freedom of choice.
