Gunderson leads ISU past Sooners

The Iowa State women’s basketball team had a successful winter break to run its record to 9-4 overall, including a 2-1 home record.
In its latest action, the Cyclones managed to defeat conference rival Oklahoma in Norman, 67-58, on Jan. 11, behind a consistent all-around effort.
Senior guard Tara Gunderson lead the Cyclone shooters with 18 points, including 10 in the second half.
Gunderson, the senior guard, also added five assists while draining four treys and creating four steals.
Junior forward Janel Grimm lead the Cyclones with eight boards, while senior forward Julie Hand added six.
Iowa State owned the glass with its 42-26 rebounding margin, including 16 offensive boards.
The ISU team managed a 6-2 overall record while going 2-1 in the conference, with losses to Tulane and Kansas.
The women fell to the 15th-ranked Jayhawks in Hilton by the final score of 70-67 on Jan. 8.
The other victory in the conference was on Jan. 4 against Missouri in Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones will return to action against the Colorado Buffaloes this Saturday night, Jan. 18, 7 p.m, in Hilton Coliseum.
