Brandon D. Belisle, assistant sports editor for the Iowa State Daily, was cited for a liquor law violation last weekend.
Belisle, a junior in journalism and mass communication, was stopped by an ISU Department of Public Safety officer in the 100 block of Campus Avenue for driving without his headlights on and a seat belt violation.
According to DPS reports, the officer could smell an alcoholic odor coming from Belisle.
The officer administered field sobriety tests to Belisle. Belisle was given a .02 violation because he is under the legal drinking age.
“I was not drunk. I passed the tests. The only reason they gave me a violation was because I am under 21 years old,” Belisle said.
“It was stupid. I always get caught when I do something stupid. That’s why I’ll never run for president.”
