Health insurance and the new Student Health Center were two topics of discussion at the Graduate Student Senate meeting Monday night.

President Kevin Ragland informed the senate that the construction of the new health center had prompted a re-evaluation of the insurance which is offered to students, particularly dental insurance.

He said dental insurance had “previously been investigated and was not economically favorable,” but Student Health Services is currently considering the range of dental options that could be made available and affordable to students.

The senators were told that a review session for the Student Health Center is scheduled for next Monday in the Gold Room of Memorial Union at 7:30 p.m. Graduate students are encouraged to participate in this forum, which is described as a “strategic planning” meeting.

Ragland said the position of office manager for the GSS would become vacant at the end of this semester because the current manager is graduating in December.

Ragland said the position, which requires approximately 10 hours of work per week, could be filled by either a graduate or undergraduate student.
