Car stolen from dealership

At approximately 8 p.m. on Dec. 3, Story County deputies, Ames police and Iowa State Patrol troopers collaborated in the apprehension of a suspect involved in the theft of a vehicle from George White Chevrolet in Ames.
According to Ames police, a George White employee returned to the dealership to pick up personal belongings when he noticed a suspicious individual on the lot.
The individual, identified as Robert Troy Young of Ames, was seen getting into a pick-up truck belonging to the dealership and driving away.
The employee then followed Young and called 911.
Police followed Young south on I-35 from Hwy. 30 where the suspect drove into a farm field near the southbound weigh scales.
Deputies, Ames police and Iowa State Patrol troopers apprehended the suspect after a 40-minute ordeal.
Young is currently in custody at the Ames Police Department.
