Four Iowa State faculty members are finalists for the position of faculty athletic representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Assocation.

The finalists for the three-year appointment are Jerry Hall, professor of mechanical engineering; Bill Hoefle, professor of veterinary clinical sciences; Barbara Licklider, associate professor of professional studies in education; and Dan Robinson, professor of higher education and department chair of professional studies in education.

Each finalist will make a 20-minute presentation at the ISU Athletic Council meeting today from 1:10 to 4 p.m. in the Gold Room of the Memorial Union.

Norm Boyles, professor of professional studies in education and a 10-year veteran of the advisory slot, is retiring at the end of this academic year. ISU President Martin Jischke hopes to name Boyles’ successor early in the spring semester.

ISU’s faculty athletic representative to the NCAA represents the university at Big 12 Conference and NCAA meetings, advises Jischke on various athletic matters and helps maintain the academic integrity of the athletic program and each student athlete.
