Only one thing left to do
November 15, 1996
I’m responding from the recent article entitled, “University charges 20 from last week’s protest.”
I’m shocked and upset that Kathleen MacKay would want to charge protesters for trying to open the eyes of what is obviously a blind administration.
MacKay’s argument that, “… it was not conducive to the regular university business,” is totally ludicrous. She is part of the problem.
Secondly, I noticed that Murray Blackwelder wants to help the situation. Mr. Blackwelder if you see this, you have to realize that the name changing of Catt Hall is the only ethical thing to do.
I know that a lot of people take psychology, what is this class any good for if those of you in the class are being taught about how people should be individuals and a community and not stepping up and saying, “this is right or this is wrong.”
In today’s society, it is imperative that you people see what is right and change the name.
I don’t know what the problem was with the old name Old Botany. I’m sure that people did not raise such a fuss over that name.
As for President Jischke, he is only looking out for himself. I have never seen such an individual be so blind to the facts.
I can truly say that if people were to give him MONEY to change the name of Catt Hall he would certainly propose it. But since there is no money involved, the name will certainly not be changed.
You see, I’ve been lying in wait until I had enough evidence or at least a valid assumption for that matter, to strike out with the power of writing.
This is indeed a powerful tool. I will be sending letters to my various friends at U.S. News & World Report, the Washington Post, The Washington Times and the Washington Informer. Let’s see if a little pressure does not OPEN their eyes.
WAKE UP ISU, it’s time to see how truly committed you are to racial diversity.
