Have a little faith
November 8, 1996
In light of the recent information (a.k.a. the truth) about the alleged horrible, incomprehensible, racially motivated attack on DPS officer Mitchell, I feel that the “staff” at the Daily owes the 6-8 “Good Ole’ Boys” that attacked Mitchell and shouted racial slurs at him throughout his terrible ordeal a sincere apology.
Wait a minute, the “Good Ole’ Boys” are merely a figment of someone’s imagination, magnified by the Daily’s eagerness to perpetuate a stereotype, so I guess the staff could apologize to the entire student body for ASSuming that the attack, which never took place, must have been the result of racial bias and bigotry.
Although this campus has not yet achieved racial harmony, the articles, opinions, and emotions that have surrounded this incident for the last few weeks only perpetuate the problem.
People, try to get along and don’t always assume the worst. Have a little faith in your fellow man.
