A former Iowa State student was arrested and charged with burglarizing a residential garage Thursday.
According to a Story County Sheriffs Office news release, deputies were investigating a report of a suspicious person about one-fourth of a mile west of Interstate 35 on Highway 210.
During their investigation, deputies discovered that Brian Edward Beard, 21, had run out of gas, and then burglarized a garage at a nearby residence, taking a gas can from the premises, police said.
Beard was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary. He was being held in Story County Jail. He is listed in last year’s Iowa State student directory as a first-year agriculture studies major from Mingo.
Beard is not listed in this year’s yet-to-be-released directory.
