Seminar to help seniors decide: Should I stay or should I go?
November 19, 1996
Many Iowa State seniors may be eager to graduate and leave the university, but others will face the decision whether to continue with even higher education.
Some students are doing something to help with the transition from being an undergraduate to that of life in graduate school.
The Senior Class Council is holding a Graduate School Seminar to provide seniors with information for making decisions concerning graduate school.
Dinidy Cunrad, a senior in elementary education, is one student who is helping to prepare graduating seniors for that transition.
“The event is for any student who plans on going to grad school whether it be at this college or another.
“We also encourage anyone who has even thought about grad school to come and listen to the speakers,” Cunrad said.
Although she is not continuing with graduate school, she, as well as other members on the Senior Class Council, have concern for students who are continuing their studies.
“As College of Education officer for the senior council, I helped revive an old idea concerning students preparing for graduate studies. The Graduate School Seminar was set up for seniors to figure out what to do after college,” she said.
Caroline Payne, a program coordinator from the ISU Admissions Office, will take part in the seminar.
“This year we on the senior council have set up a very beneficial program. It consists of current grad students, professors on campus and finance counselors,” she said.
All seniors are invited to learn more about the possibilities of grad school today in the South Ballroom of the Memorial Union. The seminar will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 9 p.m. Questions will be fielded at the end to the seminar.
