Pssst … what’s the password?
November 14, 1996
In a recent Daily, Casey Shuetz suggests putting passwords on all public campus computers to deal with the problem of Ames High students using the computers.
I think this would be a very bad idea.
Not only would the password system cause an administrative headache but would hinder those less familiar with computers.
I believe also that given enough time the students will find a way to bypass the passwords or steal them from ISU students. I think the best way to deal with the problem is to simply ask the Ames High students to leave.
They know that they have no right to use the computers, when turned away from the computer labs often enough I doubt they would return.
