I’m not normally the kind of person who sends a letter to the editor, especially a political one. But I’ve decided that if I don’t speak up, then I can’t complain if I don’t like the results.

I am writing because I want to see John Anderson become the next Story County Auditor.

I know most people don’t think that the auditor’s office is all that important.

I certainly wouldn’t even say that it is one of my highest concerns. But as I’ve followed this race I’ve been very disturbed by what I’ve seen from our current auditor and very excited about what I’ve seen in Anderson.

I can’t believe that our auditor says she doesn’t really audit or that she would use my money (as a taxpayer) to eat at the Meskwaki Casino.

I really don’t understand why she insists that Anderson is so wrong when he says he wants to use the position to watch over departmental budgets and advise the supervisors of wasteful spending.

Her opposition to that idea tells me she is not currently doing it.

When I go into that polling place to vote for county auditor, I’ll be voting for John Anderson because I like the fact that he wants to look out for my money.
