A pretty good job
October 29, 1996
Iowa State Director of Residence Randy Alexander has been on the job but a few months.
He’s a rookie.
A pup.
A plebe by military academy standards.
But in just a matter of months, Alexander’s leadership has been noticeable. He hasn’t been afraid to rock the boat. In fact, we’re not sure if the phrase “status quo” is in his vocabulary.
That’s largely a good thing.
In his short tenure at the top, Alexander has thrown support to an effort to change the “no decorations” policy on residence hall doors.
He’s trying to bring soap to all the bathrooms. He’s envisioned a master dorm plan for renovations and construction. He found emergency housing for members of Theta Chi Fraternity when their house burned down earlier this month.
And, most importantly, he’s been approachable by students. He’s been a likeable guy who seems genuine about cutting through red tape to get things done.
So thank you for your efforts, Mr. Alexander. We look forward to your future endeavors.
