First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton will be in Iowa Saturday to promote the Democratic ticket.
Clinton’s first stop will be a 11 a.m. rally for 3rd District U.S. Representative candidate Leonard Boswell. Story County is included in Boswell’s district. Clinton will then appear with 4th District candidate Connie McBurney in Council Bluffs.
Drake University in Des Moines will be Clinton’s last stop for the day. After a rally with students, Clinton will be the keynote speaker at a 7 p.m. dinner in the Knapp Center, said Peter Willmert, communications director for the Iowa Democratic party. Senator. Tom Harkin will also be speaking.
The dinner is an annual event for Iowa Democrats, Willmert said. Last year the featured speaker was President Clinton. The first lady spoke four years ago, he added.
Students interested in attending the rally need to contact Aaron Pickrell at the Iowa Democratic Party. Several ISU Democrats are also attending, said the group’s president, Dean Fiihr. Students can also call Jennifer Dreibelbis at 296-5919.
