No. 5 Cyclones drop first game in overtime to No. 18 Robert Morris

The No. 5 Cyclones were back at home Friday night in a 4-3 overtime loss to the No. 18 Robert Morris Eagles in the first game of the home series.

The first period provided several good scoring opportunities, but neither team was able to find the back of the net, leaving the game tied at zero going into the first intermission.

Senior forward Colton Kramer struck first for the Cyclones in the second period on a shorthanded goal, providing the Cyclones with the first lead of the game. Senior forward Trevor Sabo tallied on another goal with 2:14 left.

The Eagles answered with a goal from Dylan Holt with only 46.7 left in the second period. The Cyclones went into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.

Anthony Dahlberg tied the game for the Eagles with 8:52 left in the third.

The Cyclones capitalized on a power play with a goal from Aaron Azevedo, leading 3-2 with 6:49 left.

With an extra man advantage after pulling their goalie, Scott Coash tied the game for the Eagles with 1:25 left, which led to a 4-on-4 overtime. The Eagles prevailed with a game-winning overtime goal from Samuel Mancini, defeating the Cyclones 4-3.

The Cyclones will face off against the Eagles again on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. inside the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
