Iowa State Museums Sunday Program series will be featuring the program “Depression Era: Art in Iowa” Sunday Oct. 20 at 2 p.m at the Brunnier Art Museum. The lecture will be presented by Lea DeLong, art historian at the Anderson Gallery at Drake University.
DeLong will discuss Grant Wood, the most famous Iowan artist of the 1930s, and other successful working artists of the time. The work of some of these lesser known artists, including those who assisted Wood with the ISU murals, and the New Deal art programs will be discussed. The museum is located on the second floor of the Scheman Building in the Iowa State Center. Admission is free.
