Nader knows
October 29, 1996
In the interest of democratic self-government and as an investment in citizen power, I am casting my vote for Ralph Nader, presidential candidate of the Green Party. I ask my fellow Iowans to do the same. Mr. Nader has worked throughout his life to expand democracy and citizen control of politics and the economy. He is uniquely qualified to serve as president.
Mr. Nader was placed on the general election ballot through the hard work of dedicated Iowans. The goal of Mr. Nader and the Green Party is the democratization and decentralization of the political and economic institutions of our country. Toward that end, Mr. Nader and the Green Party demand the withdrawal of the United States from NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) brought to us by the evil alliance of Clinton-Dole-Gingrich and the Republicratic duopoly. NAFTA and the WTO will undermine and ultimately destroy popular sovereignty and any possibility of self-government.
Mr. Nader and the Green Party also advocate the following reforms at the federal and state level: a none-of-the-above ballot line for all elective offices, initiative, referendum and recall of elected officials and campaign finance reform.
If we wish to remain a sovereign democratic republic we can no longer cast our votes for the Republicratic combination which exists to serve government of, by and for the corporate interests. There is no such thing as a wasted vote, only a vote of conscience, and that is a vote for Ralph Nader and the Green Party.
