This week set aside for women

The Margaret Sloss Women’s Center invites Iowa State to focus its attention this week on women.

The ISU/Ames community will celebrate Women’s Week during Oct. 7-12. Women’s Week provides both ISU students and Ames citizens with information on various women’s issues and gives them the chance to openly discuss each issue.

This year’s theme is “Women Warriors: Redefining the Struggle.”

“The committee did some brainstorming and decided that the theme needed to deal with what women are doing as far as changes in society and what they can do,” said Shavonta Dickerson, Women’s Week director.

Dickerson said that in the past, over 2,000 people have attended the scheduled events during Women’s Week.

Events are scheduled everyday to help celebrate the week. Tonight Elizabeth Ann Dreyer will give a speech at 8 in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union on “Medieval Women Mystics: Weird or Wonderful?”
