U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, the holder of the Mary Louise Smith Endowed Chair in the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women in Politics, will make her first visit to Iowa State today and tomorrow.

Kassebaum, R-Kan., will give a public lecture on “Women, Education and Politics” at 8 p.m. today in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.

She will also guest lecture in several undergraduate classes, meet with university and civic leaders and spend time with Catt Center groups.

She has been a senator since 1978. She is retiring from the U.S. Senate at the end of this term. In April she was named the first holder of the Smith chair.
