Recipes for tailgating fun

The football season is soon approaching with the Cyclone season opener against Wyoming this Saturday evening. A large part of enjoying the atmosphere of college football is tailgating. While tailgating, fans get fired up for the game, enjoy the camaraderie of friends, sip a tasty a beverage or two and, of course, eat.

The usual game plan is to bring food to a tailgate. But what if you can’t cook? Have no fear, here are a couple of easy recipes for tailgating that anyone can make. Plus, your friends will think that you are a good cook.

EASY TAILGATE DIP

This dip is the perfect choice for tailgates because it keeps a good dipping consistency without heating it, like other cheese dips.

Ingredients

-2 8 oz. packages of cream cheese

-1 16 oz. can of salsa

Directions:

Place the two packages of cream cheese and half of the salsa in a microwave safe dish. Melt on high in the microwave, stirring often. After the cream cheese is melted, add the remainder of the salsa to taste.

Serve with tortilla chips. And, don’t forget to tell your friends how easy it is to make.

TAILGATE BURGERS

These burgers have onions and green peppers mixed into the meat before they are pattied, and it gives them a great juicy flavor.

Directions:

In a bowl add the following:

-One-half of an onion, finely diced, per pound of ground beef or turkey

-One-third of a green pepper, finely diced, per pound of ground beef or turkey

-Garlic salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper to taste.

Mix by hand and separate into patties. Grill over charcoal for some fantastic tailgate style burgers.

These are a couple of recipes that are easy and delicious choices for tailgating. After all, who wants to spend their time cooking when they could be cheering on the Cyclones.
